Day 17: Design Review

Day 17 was a “fresh eyes” pass on UI polish. We tested the flow of the homepage and key pages, then refined small but noticeable details: the header, scroll cues, and the case study layout. We also trimmed animations that were hurting performance and clarity.

Update

  • Added a ScrollIndicator for clearer page progression, then refined where it appears.
  • Simplified the hero and MillionDollarPromise visuals for cleaner hierarchy.
  • Reworked case study layouts for better readability and immediate visibility.
  • Removed fade-in animations that were slowing perceived performance.

What Shipped

1) Scroll Indicator: Add, Adjust, Refine

  • Added the component to pages: src/components/ScrollIndicator.astro
  • Integrated into About/How We Work, then removed from the Hero for a cleaner first impression.

2) Case Study Layout + Motion Cleanup

  • Updated listing layout and removed fade-in animations for better Lighthouse scores: src/pages/case-studies/index.astro
  • Improved detail page layout and readability: src/pages/case-studies/[slug].astro

3) Visual Simplification Pass

  • Refined the minimal header styling: src/components/Header.astro
  • Removed the diagonal accent from the MillionDollarPromise block: src/components/MillionDollarPromise.astro

Avoid Over Design

While Opus made some more suggestions, when they implemented it, it doesnt’ add too much value while getting the feeling of over design. So it turned out to be a good thing to stop here.
